Social media is not made for artists

How many of you are people who do arts as a hobby and occasional job opportunity and have social platforms to showcase it? And how many of you actually have a decent following? From a personal experience i could claim it's probably just a few. I see videos of people who talk about how to improve your following and get noticed and majority of them are full time artists! It's not really that easy to juggle real life jobs and your artistic endeavours. For most, art is self expression. It can drain you emotionally. Especially if you spend days on something. It's a journey to get to the final image. I guess some people could say it's just excuses, but unless they went through it, they won't get it. These days everything goes on social media. And in the sea of influencers and full time artists, you and your occasional artwork posts will definitely get lost. Algorithms prefer quantity over quality. Posting selfies is easy and quick. Even fairly interesting ones, it's an easy job to do that

Digitize your [traditional] art - on a budget

Content Prelude Fantastic Equipment and Where To Find It Be PrePAAAAAAAAAAAARED Location Location Location! Digivolution - Make your Rookie a Champion! Final Words I‘ve come across a bunch of #tutorials on #howto #digitize #traditional #artwork in order to #publish them and their first steps looks ever so often like this: Get a small loan of a million dollars. Get yourself some decent equipment with it. This should do as first time setup: But in my guide I want to show that this isn‘t necessary if you know where to look and which steps to take. Well, that sounds just like I‘m about to give advice to Pocarrontas while scratching my bork-beard. Let me rephrase: I‘m happy to show how I prepare my pieces of paper before spamming groups on DA ᵒʳ ʷᵃᵗᶜʰᵉʳˢ ᵒʳ ᵘⁿˢᵘˢᵖᵉᶜᵗᶦⁿᵍ ᴰᶦˢᶜᵒʳᵈ ᶜʰᵃⁿⁿᵉˡˢ ᵒʳ ᴵⁿˢᵗʳᵃᵍʳᵃᵐ with it. 2. Fantastic Equipment and Where To Find It Yea sure you can use your #DLSR (or whatever gibber jabber order those letters come in) but I‘m not. I have a dated #Smartphone

The Day of the Dead-All Hallows Eve-Halloween OR..

...SAMHAIN Halloween has always been a holiday filled with mystery, magic and superstition. It began as a Celtic end-of-summer festival during which people felt especially close to deceased relatives, friends and even former pets. For these friendly spirits, they set places at the dinner table, left treats on doorsteps and along the side of the road and lit candles to help loved ones find their way back to the spirit world. Samhain (pronounced sow-in) is the traditional Celtic holiday from which Halloween was born. Samhain is the time of the dying of the crops and of life itself. It is the time of year when many members of the pagan community celebrate the cycle of life and death. This particular sabbat is about the end of the harvest, the calling of the spirits, and the changing aspects of the god and goddess. It is the time when the veil between our world and the underworld is thinnest and the spirits of the dead can enter into our world. Many pagans of the Wiccan path

Tales of New Eden art contest! CLOSED

Alright everyone! The contest is closed and I will be judging the entries!! You can expect them up by tomorrow! Thank you all for entering. Love ya I'M DESPERATE TO HAVE AT LEAST A 2ND PLACE so I'm extending this to February 14th, 2020. It does feel somewhat sad that many said they could join back in March 2019, and now there are less than 10 entries, I wanted to be able to give away a lot more ^^; I'm not trying to guilt anyone to entering, just expressing my thoughts. It will close on V Day, though, so a lot of time is given if you still wanted to join. Not a big deal though; I make new contests every year ^^; I'm maybe going to make anoth

Being a Beginner Week: we're doing it again!

Hi everyone! The "Being a Beginner" week is all about us sharing and learning from each others' struggles and experiences in the art world. The first edition was a lot of fun, we got to see articles from new PE contributors and we got to learn more about each other as human beings and as artists. Now you might be wondering, what exactly could I write about, Mrs-Durden (https://www.deviantart.com/mrs-durden)? Well, perhaps you were a beginner portrait photographer and somehow before you felt ready you got invited to a fashion week and had to buckle down and learn under pressure real fast. Or, perhaps you spent the first six months of your time learning how to knit creating absolu
